The validity of Real Estate Broker License is for a period of two years and it must be renewed before the expiration date mentioned on the license. You can renew your license three months prior to the expiration date using eAccessNY online system.
The primary requirement for renewing the license is to complete a total of 22.5 hours of approved continuing education within the term of the license. The term of the license is the two year period that starts from the date when the license was issued. The continuing education must include at least 3 hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest of real property.
If you have been licensed for 15 consecutive years and have been actively engaged in real estate activities then you are exempt from continuing education requirement. This exemption must have been met prior to July 1, 2008.
Exemption from continuing education requirement is also granted to an attorney admitted to New York Bar who holds a valid broker license.
